Trump delivers his final pardon to Turkey
President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump prepared for Thanksgiving with a forgiveness ceremony Tuesday in the rose garden. Corn was the lucky bird.
We are here today to carry on a beloved annual tradition, the official presidential pardon of a very, very lucky turkey. Because Thanksgiving is a special day for turkeys – I guess, probably for the most part, not so good when you think about it. The first turkey to dodge the White House dinner table received unofficial leniency when President Abraham Lincoln’s son Tad pleaded with his father to spare his new friend. For the past 73 years, the National Federation of Turkey has presented the National Thanksgiving Turkey to the President. Since President George HW Bush, these birds have received official grace every year. Today, I have the honor to present to you this year’s lucky bird: corn. And just in case we need him, Cob. Corn and cobs isn’t too hard to remember, is it? But, I hereby grant you complete forgiveness. Thanks, Corn.
