Two people were stabbed to death and others injured Sunday night at a church in San Jose, Calif., Police said.
There were “several stabbing victims,” police said in a post on Twitter. No services were held at the time of the attack at Grace Baptist Church, and they added that “individuals not housed” had been brought to the church out of the cold.
The church is near the campus of San Jose State University, according to local reports.
Mayor Sam Liccardo first said on Twitter, before deleting the post: “Our hearts go out to the families of the two members of the community who died from stab wounds in the attack on Grace Baptist Church in the center. city tonight. The SJPD arrested the suspect. Others are seriously injured and we keep them in our prayers.
He later tweeted that a police statement would arrive shortly.
No other information on a mobile or a suspect was immediately available.
