An explosion in downtown Nashville on Christmas morning sent smoke rising above buildings, authorities said.
It was not immediately clear whether there had been any deaths or injuries.
A “vehicle-related” explosion occurred at 6:30 am outside 166 2nd Ave N in downtown Nashville, the Metro Nashville Police Department said on Twitter.
“There is an incident involving an explosion,” Kendra Loney, public information officer for the Nashville Fire Department, said in an email. “It’s an active scene. The Metro Nashville Police Department and the Nashville Fire Department are on the scene.
WeGo Public Transit, the city’s bus system serving the greater Nashville area, said service was not disturbed, but buses were helping authorities clean up the area and bring people out of the cold.
